Just got the informal word that I am being offered the new position. Same company, just a big promotion. Instead of supporting the U.S. and Canada for one type of technology, I’ll be supporting the entire world for a different type of technology. Super exciting but there is a potential downside. I may have to travel to the UK for a couple weeks for training. I haven’t been away from my kids or my wife for anywhere close to that amount of time. Ultimately though, if that’s the worst of my worries; then I’m pretty well set. Formal offer letter should be in my hands by early next week at the latest.

Here’s a sweet Chevelle wagon for your time.

I haven’t been away from my wife or kids for that long either, I can imagine its scary. That’s one of those situations were you picture yourself at 80 asking if you should’ve done it. Personally, with facetime and other technology, I would do it.

Yeah I’m taking the job either way. It’s just going to be very uncomfortable. But looking even further ahead it’s great to be able to put this on my resume for whatever the future may hold. Great way to get facetime with people I would never otherwise meet also.

You should definitely do it. Your wife and kid will still love/remember you and if they don’t, find some new ones.

Haha, I may not have been clear enough in the post, my mistake. I’m taking the job, traveling may just be an inconvenience should the time come.
